Personal History Lia Valerie Grae was born on Quazulu VIII in May 7th 2364 to Arlo and Patricia Grae. Arlo was the Federation Ambassador to Quazulu VIII and sponsored their application for membership. He met his wife Pat on Augusts on 2355 during a conference on Andros III. The two fell in love all most instantly, and were married less than a year later.

Growing up on Quazulu VIII was beneficial to Lia as she showed academic promise from a youthful age and was described as quick-witted and sociable by teachers. She attended secondary school in Quaz, a major city on the third continent of Quazulu VIII where her interest in diplomacy and political sciences were groomed. She was a fairly sociable child, openly conversing with other adolescents and classmates both in school and out but was teased by friends for her bookish nature which was much embarrassment to her, though she cannot recall why.

When Lia turned 10, Quazulu VIII officially joined the Federation and her family relocated to San Francisco, Earth. Growing up near the Starfleet HQ, Lia was able to interact with a variety of alien races and learned to be very accepting of foreign cultures and races.

In 2375 her home was destroyed during the surprise Breen attack signifying their entry into the Dominion War. Fortunately she and her parents survived the attack but it left a lasting impression on Lia’s life. Not to take anything for granted and to embrace life. Following the attack she and a group of her friends would volunteer to help at the local hospitals.

By the fall of 2382 she was accepted into Stafleet Academy and majored in diplomacy and psychology and due to some persuasion of her peers minored in security. She also took courses in basic leadership and one semester of field medics. During her second year at the academy, she and a few of her classmates were participating in a holodeck away team simulation. This simulation was to test the under classmate in security and combat skills. Lia was well prepared, however what her instructor was impressed with was not how she handled the hand-to-hand combat but how Lia handled aiding a fallen comrade who needed minor medical care. After the simulation the professor approached her suggesting she would make a better career decision to change her minor from security to medical. After weeks of thinking it over, Lia took her professor’s advice and switched her minor.

Lia graduated at the top of her class in 2386 and was quickly offered an assigned as Diplomat’s Aid to the Diplomatic attaché to the Darsaean Alliance. Just as quickly she was offered she accepted.

A year with the attaché was an overall a dull experience for Lia. Most of the time was spent being a glorified assistant to the assistant of the Diplomatic officer. When she saw a position open on Star base 723 for a Diplomatic office, she quickly applied.

In 2388 Starbase 723 received a new Chief Diplomat, Nicole Musser, who Lia befriended immediately. The two became close friends despite the chain of command and a clear age gap and did well to ensure neutrality with her other colleagues and crew-members.

There was one incident involving a Talarian dignitary and Nicole was under the weather in sickbay. The Assistant Chief was on shore leave so Loa was the next in line. This Talarian was very angry about an trade dispute and what Starfleet planned to do about it. Without Nicole’s guidance, Lia worked long hours to find a solution. When she found a logical solution to the dispute she brought it up with the Captain and he proposed it to the Talarian Advisor. The Talarian agreed and as it was Lia's idea she was given the position as Assistant Chief.

In 2390 she was offered the chance to be Chief Counselor of the USS Asgard, her first ever starship assignment. She accepted it.
