Personality & Traits

General Overview Quiet and thoughtful. He doesn't open up until he's
known someone for a while. He's a good supervisor and an
efficient worker. He likes some added responsibility, but
doesn't have the gravitas or any real desire to be the
top boss. His sense of humor is dry, and comes out at the
darndest times, which can lighten the tension of a difficult moment.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: Very enthusiastic about his specialty and Starfleet. Extremely analytical and knowledgeable about alien anthropology. Unflappable in a crisis. Gets along well with children and animals. A steadfast friend and a confidant once you earn his trust.

Weaknesses: Sometimes too content to remain behind the scenes. He doesn't talk much, so it takes him a while to get to know his shipmates. Spends off hours reading and gardening, so his physical fitness may lag behind that of the typical officer on a long mission.
Ambitions Damon's initial ambition was to join Starfleet. That accomplished, he found himself assigned to a Deep Space station, analyzing and cataloging artifacts that were brought back by explorers. He wanted more than anything to be an explorer himself, and can't believe he's finally getting his chance. He is deeply interested in the Breen culture, and believes he can find evidence of less aggressive segments of Breen society during his exploration of the galaxy.
Hobbies & Interests Damon loves to grow plants. He considered majoring in Botany, but it has become a lifelong hobby instead. He also likes to cook with whatever vegetables and herbs he is able to grow, with occasional help from the replicators.
Languages English, French, Spanish, written Breen

Personal History Damon grew up in the American Midwest. His parents were teachers, and he seemed primed for the safe life of an academic. After earning his bachelor's degree in anthropology, instead of going on to post-graduate school, he followed a deeply-held dream and signed on for Starfleet Academy. He loves the wide open nature of space. He's established a reputation as a solid crewmember who isn't exactly a hero type, but is unflappable under stress. He contacts his parents infrequently, but lives for video chats with his sister and her son, Ben.

Since Damon had already completed a four-year degree at a civilian college, and his specialty was in demand, he was able to enroll in a streamlined course of study at the Academy, gaining his commission in just over two years. He was assigned to lead a small team of specialists at a Deep Space station, receiving and cataloging alien artifacts brought back by front-line ships; sort of an Archeology triage station.

He spent four and a half years toiling away in obscurity. He received his only promotion -- from Ensign to Lt. JG -- for his work in standardizing the process, streamlining the procedures used by Anthro teams throughout UFP space. He was commended for his revamping of transport protocols, which reduced incidental damage to artifacts in transit, and had the further benefit of protecting Starfleet crew from any accidental contamination carried by the artifacts.

He has quietly pushed for a more active role for Archeologist/Anthropologists on exploratory missions as well. He finally got his chance to join a ship's crew on an exploratory mission at age 29, after he had nearly given up hope of realizing his dream.
Service Record 4 year baccalaureate degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Kansas. Salutatorian. Graduated with honors.
