Welcome to the USS Asgard, a proud member of Obsidian Fleet!

This is an 18+ SIMM.

This is the USS Asgard, a Norway class ship set up to survey and explore the many space anomalies in and along the Federations many borders. Currently The Asgard is assigned to the Phendara Drifts to take samples and readings of the composition of the drifts. Her previous Captain was slain on his last mission, The Asgard suffered heavy losses and severe damage on that last outing. The ship was hammered by Breen Raiders who had recently become more active in the sector. So now with a new Commander, a new crew and repairs completed the Asgard is returning. Not a ship of war by any means she does have teeth and a dedicated crew. Starfleet Command does not want a war so the Asgard has the added duty of finding out why the Breen are so interested in this area. The Norway is basically equal to a Breen frigate, but they seldom travel alone and the Norway class would have no choice but to run from a pack of them! So finding out why the Breen are here is not going to be an easy task.

USS Asgard was voted the SIMM of the year for 2013

Welcome to Adventure, to take the chance to risk it all. Winning is the only option as losing means a cold death. The Asgard is one of the most comfortable berths in the Fleet with spacious rooms and accommodations for even the lowest ranks. Live well and enjoy life as it may be short!!

From the fleet email on unit of the month awards:

U.S.S. Asgard, TF72: "Still setting the example and doing everything just right. They are well-deserving of it. Even though the "sim of the year" title has been taken by someone else I still think of Asgard as the jewel of this Task Group." - Captain T'Zera

"Excellent work people, you are always on the top of the list. The dedication and quality we share here is second to no one in the fleet. My thanks to you all for your efforts and for just putting up with me.

» The Passing of a Class Act

The following was a message on the CO board:

Friday 27 February 2015 will be a date that all Star Trek fans will remember as one of the saddest in history.

Leonard Nimoy, best known for his role in Star Trek as Spock, sadly passed away at his home from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Bel Air, LA at a young age of 83.

Nimoy had announced this last year and attributed it to years of smoking, which he had quit decades previously. It was reported earlier this week he had been taken to hospital on 19 February after suffering from chest pains.

He later tweeted: "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory."

He signed off with "LLAP" - a reference to his character's famous catchphrase, "Live long and prosper". It was to be his final tweet.

We take this moment to reflect upon our own lives and our own actions as a community mourns the passing of one of its pillars of conscience and devotion.

To all of the players of Obsidian Fleet, past, present and future; Live long and prosper.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you all in on a little secret, especially our new Commanding Officers who might not know all of this, but Task Force 72 is actually on social media!!! HOW AWESOME!!

We have a Facebook page and a twitter account and it would be so fantastic if you could all head to the links and like/follow us as well as inform your crews about our social media presence. It is getting bigger and better with information going through to both accounts at the same time and we’d be more than happy to see you all posting on the wall and tweeting to us. We’d love to see you and your crews as it is another avenue for us to get information out to you all, as well as important things and we might even be able to spotlight some simulations every so often and see what we can do to get the name of our Task Force out there.

The links are as follows:

Facebook > https://www.facebook.com/taskforce72 (I’d love to see us get to 100 likes pretty soon, we have 21 at the moment)
Facebook > https://www.facebook.com/obsidian.ninth.fleet (this is the fleet one, so it would be lovely if you could like this one as well)
Twitter > https://twitter.com/taskforce72 (we have 60 following, you might even get a follow back)

So, please let your crews know of our presence on social media, and we can’t wait to see you liking and following us, so you can all stay in touch with us even more

If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to get into contact with me.

Thanks,
Commodore Matthew Harrison Ph.D
Commanding Officer, USS Cavalry
Task Group 72-B "Black Ravens" Commanding Officer
Senior Task Group Commanding Officer, Task Force 72 “The Peacekeepers”

» Another year

Posted on Wed Dec 31st, 2014 @ 11:06pm by Captain Raymond Wulfe in General News

Happy New Year to all. The Asgard had a stand out year and most everyone participated well above requirements. Many way above them! Participation is one of the things that sets us apart as a top SIMM and for that I thank everyone. This was our second full calender year and in May we finish our third year as a SIMM. This year was super, we averaged bout 198 counts per month and until only these last two months we were at 10 or above crew. We had 7 months above 200 counts which is outstanding. We averaged above 10 counts per person for all 12 months. December was out lowest count at 113. Which is very successful count by any standard. Considering the losses in crew and all the myriad factors we ran into it is pretty amazing we got as many was we did! The dedication displayed by this crew is inspiring to put it mildly! Thank you for another great year.

I also want to congratulate all of you on quality, we have no skimpy post and our writing and stories rank with any SIMM anywhere. We only won a silver and a bronze this year but we have received high praise from others nearly every month.

So once again thank you, and lets look to another good year to come.

Raymond of the Asgard
